An Epic Day!

As reported by Sunshyne:

On Sunday, 22 terrific items dropped as the HVaC alliance ventured into MC yet again and this time downed 8 of the 10 bosses!  The first ½ of the run went very smooth again.  We did have a wipe on Garr and one on Baron Geddon this week but that was followed by an amazing effort on Shazzrah.  He was accidentally pulled before everyone was ready and we lost many folks early in this fight.  Still, the remaining team held together and took him down in the first go.

(here is a fun shot from the last baby exploding near Garr:)

As the last baby explodes the raid members go for a ride!

We continued on after that and did our first go at Sulfuron.  Sulfuron is a fun one with 4 priest guards that heal each other and Sulfuron himself if they are within a certain range of each other.  A good strategy of having the hunters pull them all apart and getting good tanking on the priest guards helped us take them down one by one and then Sulfuron himself on our first attempt.   We had enough folks willing to stay a bit long and attempt Golemagg as well.  Again a great strategy helped us take him on the first shot as well.

Lots of Virtute folks got some great loot, including BUTTERBEAN!  Congratz Butter on getting some of your set!  And Congratz to all that participated on Sunday, it was a lot of fun.

A note for getting the last two bosses, we need at least 8 raid members to have completed the Agent of Hydraxis quest chain for us to be able to summon Majordomo Executus which is the next boss in MC.  Poisoned Water is the first quest you will need to start with and here is a link to more information on Thottbot: http://www.thotbott.com/?qu=6821 .  Sunshyne has started this chain so if you have questions, feel free to catch me and ask.

Hope to see many of you out next week for another MC run.  You can sign up for the next two Sunday raids via a link in the raid/quest/party forums.

Geddon and Shazzrah go down!

Tuesday, 08 August 2006

as reported by Sunshyne:

8/6/06 (Eonar)  4 hours 6 Bosses downed!  The HVaC partnership went at it again this week only this time Baron Geddon didn’t survive and neither did Shazzrah.  We cruised through the first 4 easily again and took Garr in similar fashion to last week.  3 Warlocks this time was a nice thing!  We got Garr down and did wipe but came back and easily took out the remaining ‘babies” around him.   We gave a new strategy a shot at Baron Geddon, splitting up in a circle around him by groups and this time he went down.  Lost some folks (Zelec!) as the living bomb but Zelec also got a new high crit score of 3406!!! (O.O)  Of course that was when he exploded as the bomb…..

This gave us our first shot at Shazzrah who does some serious arcane damage.  Shazzrah has some mage abilities that send the groups scrambling a bit, like blinking in and cause ing 900 - 1800 arcane damage with about a 20 yard range –OUCH!.  As we continue our reach into MC, looks like arcane potions will be as helpful as the fire protection ones have been.  We wiped on Shaz only one time – not bad for the first try.  A small adjustment to the strategy and down he came.

Was great to see some old faces with us yesterday, Nia and Sonny!   There was also some serious Paladin love with 4, yes count them 4 of the Lawbringers dropping and Firetoker got 3 of them, congratulations to Toker !  (/pat Bogath, don’t cry maybe next time you can come…)  2 Arcanist drops as well as lots of Cenarion pieces again.  In all, 18 great drops yesterday and congratulations to all that came for a very successful run.

MC 7/30/06 Luci, Mags, Gehennas and Garr all die!

7/30/06 (Eonar) In the first official join raid for HVaC, the combined group of Harbringers, Virtute et Armis and Children of Light, the first four bosses went down almost flawlessly.  Lucifron, Magmadar and Gehennas were all one-shots.  Garr gave us a little more trouble as things got a little loose after an accidental pull and then a first attempt where things got a little loose and we managed to get him down to 1% before we wiped.  We then took down Garr with only 2 warlocks and 6 warriors in tow.  It was a great effort for our first attempt at this new boss.

After taking down Garr, we had our first experience taking down pain packs and had very little difficulty dealing with them.  We then started our first of several attempts at Baron Geddon.   We learned a lot and are still working out our tactics on what to do.  Several people experienced being "da bomb" and managed to blow up their friends.  I hear the bounty on Shrada is still out there though.   Cherun and Cindrella both got to watch battles from vantage points high above the battle after dying up near the ceiling.

Stay tuned for our next attempt on MC, coming up next week.
